1.Both Eerie Ln. and Ecto-1 are great bands. Which band started first and when?
BG:EERiE Ln. started the horror biz and has been around in some form or another since late 1996. ECTO-1 has only been around for close to 7 months tops.
2.I've noticed quite a few line-up changes. Any particular reason(s)?
BG:This is what I truly want to be doing for the rest of my life. I set the bar pretty high for myself and I expect no less from the other guys in the band. People are fickle. It's hard to find people who are willing to commit to something for any extended period of time. DEAD Lee, Edd Munster, and Sinister Hallows fit my expectations and I am proud to be in the band with them.
3.In 2004, Eerie Ln. will be releasing a new album on Antidote Records. What can we expect from this upcoming record?
BG:You can expect the ultimate EERiE Ln. experience thus far. We try very hard to always top ourselves each and every time we release a disc. Everyone involved has a good idea what EERiE Ln. is about and were we should be heading. The music itself will be FUN, definitely dark, and grooved out.
4.How did you get your nickname "Boo"?
BG:I chose the stage name Gruesome myself. I really don't know were the BOO tag came from or who gave it to me?! It's just kinda' always been that way.
5.Since signing to Antidote Records, has your outlook on music changed and if so, how?
BG:It hasn't changed my outlook on music at all. I like to think of myself as a pretty level headed guy and I think things through to the end before I make a move. I don't let things go to my head anymore. Sin is a great guy. Antidote is a great label. It was only logical as Spock would say.
6.If there was a soundtrack to the life of Boo Gruesome, what would some of the songs on it be?
BG:"To Walk the Night" by Samhain. "Capers" by the Birthday Party. "Singapore" and "I Don't Want to Grow Up" by Tom Waits. "Of Angels Bearing Pitchforks" by EERiE Ln. "Blessed be the DEAD" by ECTO-1.
7.A lot of today's horror bands get their song writing ideas from movies and books. Where do you get your ideas for writing?
BG:Alot of movies do influence me of course. That's only obvious. Especially Clive Barker's "Nightbreed." Our song "sexorthesaw" is about a scene from "Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2." I read alot as well. Clive Barker. H.P.Lovecraft, Anne Rice, and Richard Matheson are among some of my favorite writers. On a personal note, outside of the horror genre I read alot of eastern philosophy and books on martial arts and fighters. The majority of my lyrics are compromised of wacky shit I make up. Murder, shape shifting, and the super natural in general are all big topics for me. The darker the subject the better the song.
8.Do you play any instruments?
BG:I started out as an aspiring guitarist. Too many strings. I moved on to bass. I love bass. I've contributed to the writing process over the years for EERiE Ln. I still mess with my bass from time to time but nothing serious.
9.How did you come about signing with Antidote Records?
BG:That's kinda' funny cause I'm not at all sure?! My friends, Eric Blair and John Chaos in particular, pointed me in the direction of Antidote. I e-mailed Sin anddiscovered we had already spoken via e-mail before and it fell together very naturally. It's all a blur. I hope that we don't disappoint Sin and we will try our damndest no to.
10.Many people enjoy the music of Eerie Ln. for the reason of it being very heavy and dark, and for that reason, many people do not. How do you feel about that?
BG:It's all a matter of personal opinion and taste. Alot of people are single minded in their interests and only like a small corner of the music world, be it punk, metal, whatever. I like a huge spectrum of music ranging from Balzac to the Immortal, Tom Waits to White Zombie. I feel sorry for people who can not learn to open their minds and appreciate music in all it's myraid facets. They're missing out. As far as my bands go in particular that's why there is an EERiE Ln. and an ECTO-1. I get to express myself any way I see fit and have a platform for doing so. Were EERiE Ln. is heavy and dark ECTO-1 can fill all the other crevices I feel need filling musically without confusing your average listener. I just hope that in the long run people can find something to enjoy in at least one of the bands I'm assosciated with. I would also like to say THANX to everyone out there who has supported me and my blood drenched antics over the years. CHEERZ!!!!
