I'm always looking for new music to listen to, and I was definately taken by suprise when I ran across Trivium. The Orlando, Florida based band evolves their sound from metal gods such as Megadeth, Metallica, Slayer, and Pantera and create their own blend of metal.
Trivium's third release Ascendancy takes us back to the happier days; the days where metal was good and wasn't being played by pussies, for pussies, but rather by guys who love the music. One of the things that makes Trivium stand out(much like other metal gods) is their ear blitstering guitars and one of the most talented drummers I've ever heard, Travis Smith. Not to mention that the average age of the band is about 20, so taking that into account should definately help you appreciate their talents even more.
The album begins with an instrumental track called "The End of Everything" which gives you the idea that the album will be gathering it's momentum with heart-felt emotion. The third track is one of the album's singles "Pull Harder on the Strings of Your Martyr" and shows the band's talent--no questions asked. The fourth track "Drowned and Torn Asunder" is one of my favorite tracks off Ascendancy and in some choruses lead singer Matt Heafy sounds like James Hetfield of Metallica.
Ascendancy contains 12 tracks and lasts just a bit over 55 minutes. "Pull Harder on the Strings of Your Martyr", "Drowned and Torn Asunder", "A Gunshot to the Head of Trepidation", "Like Light to Flies", and "Declaration" are just a hand full of great tracks. I highly suggest checking out TRIVIUM.
